BBC Article and Audio Interview (Posted by the BBC on May 14, 1999)

Per the BBC article linked above:

"Advocate depute Sean Murphy, prosecuting, said the prints were open to interpretation and asked the jury to accept the evidence of the Scottish experts whose total experience amounted to more than 100 years."

In the short BBC audio interview linked above, Shirley McKie's Attorney stated:

"Complacency, I think, can occur in any profession or area of expertise when you are never challenged and I don't think any blame can be attributed for getting it wrong. But, if you'd been doing something for years and years and nobody ever says, 'No, but that's not right,' then mistakes can occur."

If you are an expert Latent Print Examiner, I urge you to post your concurrence with the Scottish SCRO's identification... or to post some other opinion if you believe "No, but that's not right." Even a contribution that falls somewhere in between a "did and did not make" opinion is welcome. --Ed German
