There may be no identifiable latent finger or palm prints on a gun for many reasons, as discussed here and elsewhere on this forum.

Why would there be no FPs on a discharged gun? Clear/dry weather; shooter did not wear gloves, shot-dropped gun-and ran (arrested 100 feet from scene); gun recovered w/in 30 minutes.
