They don't have the same patterns, but they do have similar patterns. I learned this while doing my science fair project.

I suggest some paper, ink, and a magnifier, not to mention a bit of time browsing this site and associated links to learn a bit about what makes fingerprints similar / dissimilar. I'm sure mom will be proud of what you learn, and of the effort you put into learning it for yourself.
