You cannot determine by fingerprints the sex, race, age, height, weight, and/or RACE. |

Dr. Harold Cummins did some of the most extensive research in racial determination from fingerprints. While he found that statistically there is variance (just as there is variance between races for skin tone, lip shape, eye socket shape, etc.), he found that fingerprint pattern variance was not reliable in determining the race of an individual from fingerprints alone. Recently, it was discussed in our department that the Asian race has certain identifiable print characteristics. I have never heard this before, and was wondering if this was true. If different races have similar print characteristics what are those characteristics? |
