Passport-related fingerprint comparisons are typically automatically performed electronically (instantly via computer networking) at border control checkpoints (entrances to countries).

If your appearance has changed to such an extent that you no longer look similar to your passport photo, it may be best to obtain a new passport containing a photo which looks like you.

My fingerprint is on my passport. Can I go to an agency, such as a local police department and pay for the making a dated,notarized print of the same finger, stating the two prints match? Is this a difficult or expensive process?
