From online obituaries, including the Washington Post and Legacy.com:

DANNY WYNDELL GREATHOUSE

of Lorton, Virginia, husband of Rebecca Greathouse and father of Marc and Matthew Greathouse passed away on Friday, January 13, 2012 at the age of 66. Danny was preceded in death by his parents, Willie and Martha Greathouse, a sister, Gloria Jean Greathouse, and a brother Merrill Greathouse. Born June 3, 1945 in Thomaston, GA, Danny received his Bachelor's degree from the American University in Washington, DC and his Masters in Organizational Design from the University of Southern California.

Danny spent a distinguished 30+ year career with the Federal Bureau of Investigation where he started as a tour guide before entering new agent's school and becoming a Special Agent. He served in the Detroit, MI field office for one year and the Kenosha, WI field office for four years before being transferred to FBI HQ in Washington, DC where he led the FBI's latent fingerprint section and disaster response squad. His early career included working directly for Mr. J. Edgar Hoover. His career also led him to many travels both domestically and internationally including the UK, France, Poland, Israel, Columbia and Jordan among others.

Upon his retirement from the FBI he worked with several firms, most recently BAE Systems, where he led the development and operation of what is now the US VISIT program's Biometric System. It brought Danny great joy to work on this very successful program with an incredibly talented group of professionals that he also worked with while at the FBI.

While he enjoyed his work and the company of his colleagues, his greatest joy was spending time with his family which, in addition to his wife and two sons, included his daughters-in-law, Lisa Greathouse of Great Falls, VA and Natalie Greathouse of Leesburg, VA. He especially enjoyed spending as much time as possible with his two granddaughters, Allison and Ava Greathouse, and his grandson, Gavin Greathouse, all of Great Falls, VA. In addition to his wife, two sons, and three grandchildren, he also survived by two nephews, Dan and Donald Greathouse and a niece, Cheryl Greathouse, all of Thomaston, GA.

Friends may visit at Fairfax Memorial Funeral Home, 9902 Braddock Road, Fairfax, Virginia on Thursday, January 19 from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. and where funeral services will be held on Friday, January 20 at 10 a.m. Interment will be at Fairfax Memorial Park.
