The 30-year-old ban on Possible, Probable, Likely finger/palm print identification conclusions was recently rescinded by the world's largest and oldest forensic science organization, the International Association for Identification. The IAI acknowledged advances in fingerprint science during the past three decades, dropped the ban on qualified conclusions, and opened the door for future validation of probability models involving finger/palm print comparisons.
