I have yet to hear of a public Internet site that enables retrieval of fingerprints based on someone's social security number. My guess is that the security staff tricked your friend into believing they had such access. How could your friend possibly know her own fingerprints from another set, say mine for instance... or any other fingerprints sitting on the Internet? Another alternative is that the security staff were government employees with authorized access and they considered displaying your friend's own fingerprints to her as similar to a freedom of information act request. Showing her own fingerprint(s) to her would be very different from showing her yours or mine (not that she would be able to memorize them and draw them later for some unsavory purpose). Maybe the best guidance is common sense. If the hair stood up on the back of your friend's neck and she believed somehow the security staff had illegitimate access to her fingerprints, she should write a letter to the Department of Motor Vehicles citing the circumstances and asking for an explanation. A friend went on a vacation and the security staff there was able to bring up her fingerprints with her social security number. How is that possible ? We are curious to see the site they were able to use.... It was a motor vehicle citation....Please respond as soon as possible..mrkclem@aol.com |
