They can be, but there are a number of different factors that contribute to whether or not prints are left on any object when touched. Temperature, humidity, contact factors, whether the person was sweating or wearing gloves, etc. It's not as easy as "yes"... it involves trying development techniques to see if it happened on that item. If you are interested in having it tested, report the incident and ask the officer(s) to please submit the bowl for fingerprint work. If they do not, there are several private labs if you want the development done yourself. If something is developed you can get back in touch with police and tell them you have additional evidence in your case, and to please submit it to the crime laboratory for examination. I really would like to know if fingerprints are left on styrofoam. My son had 2 dogs poisoned and the bowl was left on his property. |
