Hey Karen,
I just now saw your question. The answer is a bit complicated, but the easy answer is; you would need to transfer the print from the photo to the surface of the copper then etch the copper. This can be done with Photoshop (isolate the fingerprint), then printed with a Xerox machine onto thin glossy paper. While in Photoshop, the print needs to be position revered and color reversed. You can then iron the paper onto the copper, which should transfer the print. Now, using a copper etching solution (Ferric Chloride)you can etch away the copper that was not covered by the black fingerprint. This will create a mold of your print. You can then add something like Mikrosil to create a cast.
See, pretty easy :-)
The entire process can also be reproduced using printed circuit boards and an etchant solution.
Good luck,
Tom

I am a trainee in Latent Prints. For one of my training modules, I am researching about Forgery/Fabrication Methods. I came across a method: Metal Plate Etched from a photograph of a fingerprint. I was wondering does anyone know how that method works?
