Generally speaking, if you alter the root system of the fingerprint, the detail within that area of disturbance will grow back differently. There is a history of intentional fingerprint mutilation, but those who are known to have completed the procedure have been discovered. (obviously) :) I should say their original identity was discovered, because they completed, in some cases, some pretty horrific procedures to TRY to fool authorities. There are also some medical conditions and occupations that can affect the growth of friction ridge skin. But the detail that is present is permanent and unique, and can be individualized to the source if there is a clear print to compare it to.

Id like to know has there been a history of fingerprint altering and how?

is it medically possible to alter human fingerprints? burning or any other way , has it been
done in history?
