Good Afternoon. I am currently working on a project to design a course in Forensic Chemistry, and I was wondering what the prefered way of getting fingerprints off cans was. We have tried dusting, nynhydren, and silver nitrate. None of it works very well at all. If you could sugest anything it would be much appreciated.

We are also having some problems with getting "legible" prints from cloth. So far all that we've used is coarse weave cloth. The fact that there are prints is discernable, but other than that there is no charecteristics.

Thank you
