thanks for the info. i actually did moisturize quite a bit before i went in because i have had trouble getting thumbprints in the past. i moisturized before i went in, and one of the two places i went to actually inked my fingers before putting them on the glass. im glad to know that i'm most likely fine. i was just worried because the places i went to kept asking me if i had any diseases. thanks, Lisa |

You could have less pronounced ridges than others. From the literature, women have smaller ridges than men on average. One simple thing is to use hand lotion to moisten your fingers over several days. This will raise your ridges and make them more easily recorded. I guess you could have nearly non-existant ridges, but this seems unlikely as you state that your thumbs are easily read. Good Luck.... |

It's unlikely you're the victim of some foul disease. You likely just happen to have rather flat ridges on you fingers. (This happens in old age, too.) You should talk to the folks who administer the submission and see if you can submit an inked card, or they may have found that moisturizing your hands for a few days will help. If you need to submit a card, you can get an APPLICANT card from them or ask a local police agency to print you. The person taking the prints will sign the card for the agency, and these can be used for background checks. |

ive been trying to get my fingerprints sent to the fbi and bci for my background check for my social work license. i've tried several times to use the machine to upload them, but i've been turned away at several different agencies. my thumbprints always get a good, and my right index finger gets a fair at best, but every other finger is rated as poor. i don't understand why this is happening. im a 25 year old, healthy, white female. i've bascially spent my life as a student, so i haven't had any contact with chemicals of any sort. are there just naturally some people with very faint fingerprints, or could i have some weird disease i don't know about? im worried, that with technology headed in its current direction, that i might have a lot of trouble in the future if this is a legitimate problem. tia, Lisa |
