It is now possible to request a copy of ULW via the fbibiospecs web site. Go to the latent print services page and click on the "Download" button, which presents a request form. I have not tried this myself (I have access to ULW software via my employer, a software developer), but the facility is available for those who need it. Or just go to IAI and pick up a CD, if CDs are even distributed any more... |

Universal Latent Workstation (ULW) is not available for personal use, however (as mentioned in Aaron's posting below) police and other government personnel with a valid need for ULW may request free copies by sending an email to ulw@leo.gov At the FBI CJIS Division's official page about ULW at www.fbi.gov you can see further information concerning minimum system requirements (basically any PC with a CD player and Windows operating system). Although the website currently states that you must have your own Aware WSQ compression software, that is no longer applicable in that ULW now includes WSQ compression software. Fingerprint experts attending the IAI's Annual Educational conference can usually pick up a free copy of the latest version of ULW at the FBI CJIS booth. For information about that conference, please visit www.theiai.org |

Dear Forum, As an FYI, I was able to request a copy of the ULW from ulw@leo.gov. Hopefully this will help anyone else trying to find the software. Thank you, Aaron. |

Dear Forum, I have used the ULW for a few years and have a lot of information regarding the analysis workstation. However, I would like to find a copy for my own personal use. Is the software package available for individuals to request much like the NBIS C fingerprint libraries? Thank you. |
