From "Quantitive-Qualitative Friction Ridge Analysis", D. Ashbaugh, CRC Press, 1999, Page 64: Average distance between ridge peaks is "0.48mm in young male adults"... "Young adult males have an average or approximately 20.7 per cm and females approximately 23.4 ridges per cm. Differentiating between male and female friction ridges is not practical as some people are simply bigger than others." Good luck, --Ed German |

Greetings I was wondering if anyone knew if there exists an average median distance between ridges or valleys of a fingerprint in a normal adult and if so, what the distance would be? Thank you thinktank@telus.net |
