Possible In all the cases I worked on when I recieved inked prints from witnesses or the victim the prints were kept. They were not filed in with the fingerprints on file. These prints were filed with the case along with the latent prints. If at a later time we needed to see who they were compared against they were in the case file. No you can not go back and say my prints are in your files. A lot of times the cases are archived and unless you tell them with what case the prins are in the agency does not have where they can be access right away. | ||

Maybe yes and maybe no. Those privacy concerns depend on the applicable laws where you reside, as well as on the automation capabilities and policies of the police agency collecting the data. | ||

is the government allowed to, and do they, keep every fingerprint they come across? for instance when my car was broken into 2 years ago, the forensics officer took my prints along with latent prints from my car for reference. are my prints saved in the government or police files? |
