I found this post cause of a bet I had with somone, & after googling I guess fingerprint removal is only tempoary. I never had a reason to remove mine, but guys debate about dumb things all day & this was his first time being possibly right ever... But I can say that when i worked at a warehouse unloading toilets off of tractor trailer trucks, funny as that may sound, i noticed that after a week of carring those that my fingertips became as smooth as glass & had no prints. They of course grew back when i quit that job, but the inside of the toliets, where tha water is held, seems to act as a fine sand paper when rubbed against skin over a period of time. I wouldnt recommend accomplishing that in one day, but I never tried to. Over a period of time a little each day, a stone similar stone will "sand off" ur prints clean away without bleading or pain, but like a hair cut, it not permanent.... This way is much better than mutilating yourself.. Im not sure who'll end up reading this post or for what reason, but no violent or sexal crime agaisnt another man or woman goes un punished when it really matters, regardless if ur caught or not.. So dont do it |

I accidently replaced some of my natural fingerprints with scar tissue after a 3rd degree burn to the tips. Instead of the whorl "lines", I've got areas of dimpled "static", 20 years afterwards |

2: I've read about 'incomplete' methods of destroying one's fingerprints (the ones that made me chuckle were 'amputation at the wrists' and 'the Pineapple Method', however valid they may be), and that these methods (other than amputation) would lead to an even more easily identifiable print due to scarring and natural supsicion. -Are these methods viable, even for a short period of time, to alter one's prints? 3: Plastic Surgery - could it, like facial transformations, potentially change one's prints to a new and unique pattern, to, say, erase one's past? |

I'm doing research for a group English Lit paper entitled "Methods of Murder," and I've spent the past three or four hours reading through the majority of the posts here. As of yet, I've been unable to locate a clear answer to certain questions about removing one's fingerprints. I understand that fingerprint removal, in any form, is not permanant, but I was wondering about the following; 1: If one were to dip one's fingertips into sulfuric acid and allow it to eat away the epidermal layer and the dermis beneath, would that cause the root to be destroyed? -If so, if damaged in such a manner, would the root begin to reform afterwards, as the skin heals? -Also, would such a method be possible in the first place without permanantly injuring one's fingers?
