Yes, latent prints can and often are developed on plastic sandwhich-type bags. Generally, they would be first subjected to cyanoacrylae (super-glue) fuming. Then, visual examination to deteremine if there were any visible prints developed. If there were, they would then be photographed. The bags would then be coated with a fluorescent dye-stain followed by examination under a laser or some other alternate light source. Again, any latent prints would be photographed. Finally, they would be processed with regular black fingerprint powder. If any latent prints were developed with powder they could (usually) be lifted in the normal manner. I say "usually" because there are, in some instances,powder-developed latent prints that cannot be lifted sucessfully. That is why a camera is so valuable to the fingerprnt examiner. | ||
