The solution is soap and grease: use cleaning solution (soap) to keep the vault surface very clean (leaving behind no cleaning solution residue ...which would attract dust/dirt and hinder fingerprints). Of course, apply the cleaning solution with elbow "grease."

If the vault exterior is not already smooth, consider covering it with a smooth material and keep that surface clean.

I own a commercial cleaning company and clean banks for a living. The manager would like a solution applied to the vault door so that if there were ever a break in, the fingerprints would be easier to detect because they had been preserved better. Is there anything I could use to do this?
