At onin.com/fp click on "Online Processing Guide" for online processing guidance about processing latent prints deposited on the surfaces involved in your experiment.

View and impressions with a magnifier and capture them with macro-photography equipment(capable of recording a high-quality close-up of a dime-sized area). Basic photographic procedures to get you started are described online at sites such as www.redwop.com/

Government agency permission is not needed to collect impressions from adults giving you consent to collect/harvest/record their impressions, but your school (or other entity you may be associated with) may have privacy policy restrictions you need to know about. If you are doing this experiment for a school, you may want to check with their legal department about privacy policy restrictions, especially if some of the impression donors are minors.

Good luck with your project.

I would like to collect fingerprints from a glass surface onto which many people have passed, touching it with their hands and faces.
The persons will have been informed that the glass will be 'dusted' and the prints will not be used for anything other than a photographic experiment/exhibit. This is part of an art project.

I need help in understanding the process via which prints of this nature are collected and how they are translated into images?

How are these images viewed?

Is there any legal issue involving the collection of fingerprints without permission from a government agency? Do you know if this applies internationally or if some governments are less concerned or strict.

Would you be able to point me in the direction of where I can find out more about this process?

Really appreciate any help/suggestions.
