Fred,

Latent prints have persisted in some pretty strange circumstances; From exterior windows for over a year, to card-stock for over 100 years. I would venture to say there is a reasonable opportunity to obtain latent prints, and most likely on the cardboard. This is because the chemicals targeted by those processing techniques (amino acids) are more likely to remain in the porous surface of cardboard than the moisture on a non-porous surface that other techniques would target.

Regards,

My ex-wife stole several thousand dollars in items from my parents attic about 2 years ago. She is the only one that could have done it. We know she touched a 48 inch metal light, some plastic containers, some cardboard boxes and a few other items. Could we still get fingerprints from these items even after 2 years with them being in a hot attic.
