if you wanted to hide your fingerprints what should you do other than keep them in your pockets?

Webservant note: Also - wear thick gloves... or do not touch relatively smooth surfaces where you finger/palm prints could incriminate you.

Can prints be burned off of metal?

It depends on the print.

Some types of prints are molded in the item, like putty or wax, or etched on the item, like brass or other types of metal. These would not easily be destroyed by rain. If the print contains a high degree of oil or other hyophobic (water repelling) material, they might also remain on the item for a period of time, even in the rain. Prints composed mostly of eccrine sweat (95%-99% water) might be destroyed rather quickly in the same environment.

Would rain wash away fingerprints on an object?

guest: you asked "is there some way to covertly hide your fingerprints."

Answer: yes... keep your hands in your pockets. This also has another benefit... it makes it more difficult to break the law.

x,

Chemical processing techniques for latent prints target quite a few different chemicals within the sweat residue absorbed by paper. Just because you add this gel to your hands doesn't mean every trace of these constituents are gone. In fact, it would probably boost levels of other elements which might react with latent print developers.

And latent prints are not lifted from paper. Usually they are photographed or scanned and preserved.

Would this prevent prints from being lifted from paper?

is there someway to covertly hide you fingerprints? Such as diping finger tips in super glue or covering your fingers with scotch tape. Something that would hide your prints like gloves would but that would go unnoticed.
