Usually and print is of AFIS quality when there is a delta, core, or the finger of origin is known. (There are many guidelines.) As AFIS is a search engine and a human comparison is needed for all probable matches, many searches may need to be done for each latent lift. Training and experience is also the best way of knowing what is and is not AFIS quality.

What is the difference between an "AFIS quality" latent print and one that is only useful for comparison purposes? How do I determine if a latent print I recover is of "AFIS quality"?

Thanks,

Ken
