Correction: Only NEW Civilian Prints submitted after IAFIS came online are online. Otherwise, they are offline in storage collecting dust. |

Yes, Criminal fingerprint records were included into IAFIS from the start. Civilan prints were added after the system came online in late July 1999. A background check should reveal prior convictions, but as I am replying to this question almost a year later, I guess you have already found this out. Unless, they are only concerned with convictions within the last 10 years. In any case, a criminal history check should show your conviction as an adult. In fact, an NCIC printout should show whenever someone is fingerprinted for any check that hits the system whether civil or criminal. Information Technology systems store information that would make Big Brother proud... |

I WORK FOR A MAJOR AIRLINE AND BEEN EMPLOYED WITH THEM FOR THE LAST 12 YEARS,WITH A VERY GOOD RECORD!!! AND THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT PAST A NEW LAW THAT SAYS ALL AIRLINE EMPLOYEES MUST TAKE A (10 YEAR)CRIMINAL FINGERPRINT BACKROUND CHECK,WITH THE FBI.I HAVE SOME CONCERNS, (1) IS IT TRUE THAT WHEN AIRLINE AND THE FBI CHECKS YOUR CRIMINAL HISTORY THEY CAN STOP AT TEN YEARS,LIKE THE AIRLINE SAID THEY WOULD DO? MEANING THE COMPUTER IF INPUTED WILL NOT GO FURTHER THEN TEN YEARS? OR WILL IT BRING UP ANYTHING OF YOUR PAST CRIMINAL HISTORY? (AFTER TEN YEARS).(2)REASON FOR QUESTIONS I HAVE BEEN IN TROUBLE IN MY YOUTH ABOUT 13 YEARS AGO AND BEEN ARRESTED ALSO A MINOR.(NON FELONY), AND ONE AS A ADULT (NON FELONY) BUT AT THE TIME THEY USED, I GUESS WHITE PAPER AND BLACK INK AND TOOK ALL TEN OF MY PRINTS HOW WILL THEY THE (FBI) MATCH THE NEW PRINTS TO THE OLD ONES,ALSO WOULD IT SHOW UP? DID THE FBI INPUT MY OLD PRINTS IN TO THERE COMPUTER NOW? |
