I am having trouble getting FBI clearance for a consular application because of my "weak finger prints" I am 61 years old and my work has been office related . I haven't workded with chemicals or other components which may have affected my prints. I am about to try a third time at getting prints and I am wondering whether anyone has a suggestion as to how to "strengthen" or improve the images of my prints. Thanks. | ||

Wildtrout, Many things can cause friction ridges to be or become less pronounced across the surface of the skin. If your friend is employed in a capacity that requires frequent contact with slightly acidic or basic materials, then the skin on the surface of the ridges may be worn down resulting in non-clear prints. Ridges also flatten out with age, so if your friend is elderly, it may just be a result of the natural aging process. And there are some medical conditions which affect the alignment of the ridges and produce abnormal prints. | ||

Are there medical skin conditions which make fingerprints hard to read on less obvious? I am asking because a friend has been finger printed for a license application and they are having trouble getting good prints with the electronic method and so are holding up her application. |
