Do fingerprint types run in the same family? (i.e. do you find patterns of all members in the same family having one particular type of print?)

Please look in the same place, i.e., the FAQ at http://onin.com/fp where you will see comments about using a flashlight, etc., to see latent prints.

I've been all over the web, to public libraries, etc. but I can't find anything on how to 'see' fingerprints on an object. How could I do this at home, quickly and cheaply? Materials, etc?

Thanks in advance
