One of the best procedures for seperating tape is to use a product called 'UnDu', which can be found in hardware stores. If the tape is stuck sticky side to non-sticky side this works the best. If the the tape is stuck sticky side to sticky side this product will tend to make the adhesive on the tape dissolve and get messy, which is not highly suitable for recovering latent fingerprints. Pulling tape apart is a very frustrating task. I've found that pure patience and and a little forcefulness can sometimes do the job. | ||

I have duct tape evidence which had been stuck together. I want to separate the tape and process the sticky side for latent prints. I recall hearing that immersing the tape in liquid nitrogen would allow the tape to be separated without destroying the latent prints, but have failed to successfully separate tests. Does anybody have suggestions. |
