There are two books that have information on sex differences in number of ridges: "Finger Prints, Palm and Soles", Harold Cummins and Charles Midlo, first published in 1943 and again in 1961. "The Genetics of Demal Ridges", Sarah B. Holt, Charles C. Thomas, 1968 Both state basically the same information: female ridges are finer/smaller and there will be a greater number of ridges for a female in a given measurement of ridge pattern detail between a male and a female. | ||

My son is doing a science project answering this question: Do fingerprints for females have the same number of lines or dots as males have? He needs to research known information on this topic as well as find or create an experiment that will prove or disprove his hypothesis. Where can he get this information?
