Samantha, Everyone's fingerprints are unique. There have never been two persons found to possess the same fingerprints. That being said, the overall patterns of a person's fingerprints (Loops, Arches, and Whorls) may show some heredity in that offspring may have similar patterns as their parents, however, the induvidual characteristics that are used to induvidualize a fingerprint to a person form during fetal development. These developments cause ridges within a fingerprint to split, end, or form an enclosure. The characteristics that are formed are unique to an induvidual and are not inhereted the way other physical characteristics may be. |
