Gerald Clough's reference had me reviewing Cummins and Midlo's "Finger Prints, Palms and Soles". Their brief discussion of handedness mentioned some significance in patterns (not ridge features) appearing in the interdigital areas of the palm. Their main observation was that 'handedness' is not generally noted in prints of subjects used in research, making correlation difficult. |

I've never heard that claimed. You might find some leads in these,if you can find the publication in the library or ERIC. Cummins, H., 1940. Fingerprints correlated with handedness. Am. J. Physic. Anthropol. 26, pp. 151–166. Cummins, H., Leche, S. and McClure, K., 1931. Bimanual variations in palmer dermatoglyphics. Am. J. Anat. 48, pp. 199–230. Coren, S. (1994). Are fingerprints a genetic marker for handedness? Behavior Genetics, 24, 141-148. |
