In the Uk Dr Henry Faulds wrote a letter to Charles Darwin (Feb 1880) in which he suggested the use of fiingerprints to identify criminals. The first identification by means of fingerprints i believe was in 1892 Buenos Aires. A woman named Francesca Rojas had 2 sons who were found with their throats cut. She accused her neighbour. An Inspector Alvarez found a thumbprint in blood on the doorframe which matched Rojas, when interviewed she confessed to the crime. The first Bureau was also set up in 1892 by Juan Vucetich who was a colleague of Inspector alvarez. |
