Empirical data made people realize this was true and then statistical studies supported the improbability of two fingerprint patterns reoccurring. The final support came when the scientists showed how fingerprint patterns were formed during embryonic development. The pressures and stresses placed on the ridges during developement created the characteristics. Since these forces can never be the same on two objects then the characteristics can never be the same, not on the same finger, not on the same person, and not with twins. |
