Kierra,

Glass is an excellent surface for receiving and recovering (lifting) latent prints, are as a number of smooth non-porous surfaces. Rough and porous surfaces are more difficult, but chemical methods make the development of latent prints on porous items, such as paper, cardboard, etc., relatively easy. Latent prints on most porous surfaces are not 'lifted', but recovered through photographic methods.
