How long does a fingerprint stay on a surface?

Very reliable... it will not lose its credibility.

If one's fingerprint is recently identified as being matched with a print lifted more than 5 years ago in a burglared apartment. How realiable it is?

Put it this way, will such evidence lose its creditability as the time goes?
