It would depend on whether a 'new' procedure is being used. It is possible to develop latent prints post-processing if there is information on a particular process or technique that was previously unknown or untried. Your 'webservant' once wrote an article years ago on missing ninhydrin prints because the technique of chemical staining and visualization by laser was not being employed. Now, certain processing methods can negate later techniques by eliminating the latent residue needed for development. These prints are 'latent' (hidden or invisible), so you may never know.

can you test a gun for prints and still be able to retest for prints on a later date?
