First answered by the Webmaster in the Miscellaneous Section on Sunday, August 13, 2000 - 11:24 pm: Dr. Harold Cummins did some of the most extensive research in racial determination from fingerprints. While he found that statistically there is variance (just as there is variance between races for skin tone, lip shape, eye socket shape, etc.), he found that fingerprint pattern variance was not reliable in determining the race of an individual from fingerprints alone.
