Old time 'point counters' used math. That's a one, that's a two, that's a three, etc., etc., that's an ident!!

Before computerization, one common use of math in fingerprint applications involved classification formulas to facilitate the "binning" of fingerprint cards or individual fingerprints into smaller sub-groups to facilitate searching/comparison.

For the past three decades, computerization has taken on a constantly growing role in fingerprints. Automated Fingerprint Identification Systems (AFIS) use math (number operations) for everything they do.

Other than AFIS, math to many of us now means moving the computer mouse through the steps:
