The answer you (or your teacher?) are looking for is probably: ridge endingHowever, you should be aware that many people consider that there are only three Level 2 details, ridge endings, bifurcations and dots... and that the many other Level 2 formations are merely combinations of the three (sometimes 12 are listed) More importantly, you should be aware that identifications are not based JUST on Level 2 "points" in most latent print examinations. To quote my former supervisor, Robert D. Olsen, Sr.: Some latent print examiners have accepted the concept that friction ridge characteristics are synonymous with the points of identity used to establish the positive identification of a latent print. These examiners hold the view that one friction ridge characteristic, regardless of its configuration and complexity, constitutes only one point of identity. This is an erroneous concept.
