I am a retired fingerprint examiner (CLPE). I read Michelle Triplett's article in the latest issue of "Identification News" and viewed the "Non-Corresponding Ridge Events" section of Henry Templeman's website. I was amazed at the "missing" clear ridge characteristics in the examples shown. Has any research ever been done to explain what causes this?
