We have great success with a new product called "adhesive Red" available through Crime Scene Supply (706)896-9742. Seems to work best with acrylic adhesives. |

Have you tried Tape-Glo? I have found that Tape Glo works the best on duct tape sticky side. Just dip for about 10 seconds, gently rinse with distilled water and then hit the item with 450nm ALS and view with orange filter. |

Hello! I'm hoping someone can help me- I'm having some difficulty with processing the sticky side of a different type of duct tape. The product is Venture Tape UL181B-FX 1599B Silver Flex Duct Closure Tape. Attempts were made with traditional sticky-side powder and with gentian violet, with horrible results. The adhesive sucked up the powder and dye, leaving a solid film over the adhesive. I've cut and pasted some specs from the product's website, as the board will not allow me to post a link here: www.venturetape.com/product.php?productid=1344&cat=53&page=1 • Higher adhesion and tack than traditional cloth duct tapes • Can be used on metal & metal connections • Excellent UV resistance • Long-life CW® acrylic adhesive; superior performance in extreme environments; from -35°F to 260°F I'm guessing the specific type of adhesive is the issue. We did have some success photographing obvious ridge detail with oblique lighting, but I would like to finish processing the tape if I can find a way to do it successfully- I have numerous pieces left which havn't been processed. I'm at the point where I'm ready to pick up a roll and experiment with it to see what might work, but I'm fresh out of ideas. Can anyone suggest anything that may help? Thanks in advance for any ideas! |
