My name is Mason Hines and I have been conducting NIJ funded research since June 2007. I am finishing up our current project at Mountain State University, Beckley, WV, as part of my graduate program. I am looking for several volunteer latent examiners of varying degrees of experience, IAI Certified or not, to examine and provide a score on approximately 20-25 latent fingerprint images. This is a blind evaluation of a traditional latent development technique compared to a process that we have recently developed. The images will be posted by the first week of August and I ask that you conclude your analysis within two weeks.

You will be provided a link to a website with side by side images of latent impressions and asked to utilize a simple scoring chart developed by Helen L. Bandey to rate the quality of the latents. I would like current CV’s from all who participate and your name will be included in the final report but all analysis results will be anonymous. The scores will be averaged to determine the viability of this new technique. I will also send any examiner who assists a sample of the product after the analysis has concluded.

I can be contacted at mhines@mountainstate.edu.

Thank you,
Mason
