I used to work for an ASCLD/LAB accredited crime lab as a Latent Print Examiner where we would spend a lot of time excluding very marginal quality (but theoretically identifiable) latent prints. I am now working for another ASCLD/LAB accredited crime lab where a new LP comparison/AFIS program is in the works. I was just curious how other agencies approached exclusions. What are your policies/procedures regarding exclusions? Is every identifiable print ID'd or excluded? Is that documented in notes and/or a report? Any input would be very much appreciated! Thank you!
