Sandy J, 1) Yes, you can potentially recover prints from both surfaces using freezing or tape-release chemicals. 2) If you are very careful you could separate the tape before doing any CA fuming, but most folks would CA the outer layer to stabilize latent prints that might otherwise be rubbed-off during the separation process. 3) There are always concerns over losing DNA, and you should consult with your supporting DNA examiners anytime you have questions. With tape, there are often hairs of the perpetrator(s) stuck to the specimens (great sources for DNA). 4) See answer 2, above. | ||

Hello, I am so glad I have found this forum. I have a few questions..... I have duct tape wrapped around several times. 1) With the nitrogen or Un-du, can you find prints on both surfaces? 2) Would you unwrap the tape then CA? 3) Are there any concerns over loosing DNA? 4) would you CA first, for the outer layer- then attempt to separate the tape?
