I HAVE FOUND THAT THE USE OF MAGNETIC POWDERS MIXED WITH OXIDE POWDERS ALSO GIVES A OOD RESULT ON PLASTIC BAGS.TRY USING A RED OR BLUE OXIDE. POUR THE MIX OVER THE THE BAG AND CAREFULLY USE THE MAGNETIC BRUSH.ALSO TRY RTX I HAVE HAD SOME RESULTS WITH THIS BUT NOT ENOUGH TO GIVE YOU A DEFINITE RESULY | ||

we use vacuum metal deposition on light coloured plastic bags after visual examination and before superglue and basic yellow 40 treatment. it usually yields good results. be sure to photograph asap as the marks fron VMD can sometimes fade. good luck | ||

In this type of situation, I believe I would reverse the order of powder and dye stain. My personal experience has been that chemical treatment is more sensitive with high-end photography than powders and photo/lifts. I have used RAM in the past and it works well on multi-colored backgrounds as it has more inherent properties than Ardrox or R6G alone. Well, here's another one to throw out to you guys. We had a 4-year-old boy missing for about a week. On Saturday, some remains were discovered in a garbage truck: it was the body of a child inside garbage bags, and with our temperatures of over 90 and the humidity, you can imagine the condition of the bags and the body. We are going to be processing the bags of course for prints, and they are currently drying out although they are of course contaminated with body juices, maggots and the surrounding garbage. So far we have 3 bags: 2 black, 1 whitish-gray. There will likely be other bags as techs sift through the garbage collected. Here is the the method we're thinking of taking, but we're VERY open to all ideas. If there's something we don't have in stock, we can order it ASAP because we're working HARD on this! Anyway, here's what we're thinking of doing with the bags: 1) inherent examination using our Omnichrome Omniprint 1000 or the Crime Scene Scope; 2) cyanoacrylate fuming; 3)flourescent powder (Redwop likely for contrast); 4) flourescent dye stain: we're thinking along the lines of Basic Yellow, Androx, Rhodamine 6G -- I have never used or made RAM, but understand that some of the results with it are great!
