Go to any hardware store or even some grocery stores and buy a bottle of UN-DU. It is an adhesive release agent. Jon Stimac of the Oregon State Police published an article on his research on testing UN-DU on various self-adhesive labels and tapes and found that the latent prints were not destroyed by using the UN-DU to release the labels or tape from the surface. The only time it doesn't work is if the tape is adhesive side stuck to adhesive side.

I have a case where two pieces of gray masking tape were placed over a plastic playmate cooler lid and utilzed in a bank robbery. My problem is getting the tape off of the plastic surface, limiting the damage to any latents on the sticky side. Any suggestions are appreciated.
