Dear Colleagues, We thank you very much for the number of replies we have obtained. As explained in the posting at onin.com, you must e-mail alexandre.anthonioz@unil.ch and request an individual token because the survey is offered only on an individual basis using a personal token generated from our server. If you haven't been contacted directly (for example, with a message similar to what is posted at onin.com), then you have not been issued a token and you will not be able to access the survey. If you would like to participate in the study, feel free to drop us a line at alexandre.anthonioz@unil.ch and we will add you to the second round. Thanking you in advance for your enthusiasm and collaboration. C. Champod |

Received the below today from several Latent Print Examiners with an invitation to "please feel free to circulate this..." This appears to be an excellent opportunity to help by participating in a fingerprint survey. All research is valid when the context, content and evaluation methodologies are proper.=================================== Subject: Invitation to Participate in Survey on Level 3 Characteristics From Alexandre Anthonioz ALEXANDRE.ANTHONIOZ@UNIL.CH Friday, October 29, 2004 Dear Colleagues, Our institute (IPS - Institut de Police Scientifique, University of Lausanne, Switzerland), in collaboration with the Forensic Science Services (FSS, UK), is conducting a major project on fingerprints statistics under the umbrella of the US Department of Defense's (Technical Support Working Group). The project is mainly concerned with statistics associated with level 2 features. Within this project, we are very interested to pinpoint the definition of third level characteristics as understood by fingerprint examiners. In fact, we aim at designing, in a later stage, specific algorithms to detect and study systematically level 3 features, and therefore there is a need to define them with precision. In this context, we would like to invite you to participate in our web-based survey. The survey is anonymous and personal. The data gathered will be used within the strict framework of the TSWG project. The survey is titled: "Survey on level 3 characteristics" To participate, please email ALEXANDRE.ANTHONIOZ@UNIL.CH to request a study token, then click here to login and enter your token. If you know people in your service that would be interested in joining this survey please feel free to circulate this mail. Interested people will have to contact us in order to get an access to the survey (for security reasons). We thank you in advance for your kind assistance. Sincerely, Prof. Christophe Champod and Alexandre Anthonioz If you have any question or problem, please contact Alexandre Anthonioz (alexandre.anthonioz@unil.ch). |
