Marge,

Yes. There is a very rare congeital condition called friction ridge aplasia in which no friction ridges form at all.
more common, though still rare, is friction ridge dysplasia. In this condition the ridge units are not joined up into continuous ridges. Dysplasia usually only affects small areas of the skin, total dysplasia would be very rare.
N.B. fingerprints showing dysplasia are still unique and can be individualised.

What is the average size of each finger for both a male and female; to include length (all digits-full finger) and circumference?

Will appreciate any information or references?
