You could dust the sign with theft detection powder but then you would have to illuminate the suspected vandals hands. A hidden surveillance camera with a recorder works 24 hours a day so you don't have to.

Clean your sign the same way that you clean children's finger and palm prints from the kitchen table... soap and water.

Someone has been repeatedly vandalizing a parking sign at our HOA. I've had a new vinyl sign made. Once it's installed, how should I clean the installer's prints from it? Anything to optimally prepare the surface so that if the perp returns, that his/her prints can be taken?
