what are the purpose of rolled impression

I don't think you're going to find a reliable count of convictions based on nothing but a print identification. For that matter, I don't think there's a reliable source for the number of conviction at trials in which a print identification was part of the State's case.
Really, these would be nothing more than trivia questions. Any count of trials would not include the significant number of cases that did not go to trial, that ended in Guilty pleas, because of a credible print identification that may have been the only evidence.
Nor would it take into account cases in which there was non-print evidence that could not have sustained a conviction without the print evidence.

how many convictions have been successful when using fingerprints

I am a student at PBCC enrolled in a two year degree CSI program and have a term paper to do in my fingerprinting class. I would like to know if any study or statistics were ever done showing how many convictions may have been made by fingerprint comparsion only. Any help in this matter would be greatly appreicatd.
