Many thanks to Kasey and ernie for their help in supplying the titles to research the Vacuum Metalization Technique for the detection of fingerprints.

Ernie, you rascal... I KNEW you couldn't stay away from the boards! It's an addiction... a way of life, man! Don't ever try to quit... it's futile. Great to have you back, Ernie.
Sorry, John... I just had to welcome Ernie back first.
It looks like he has the bases pretty well covered. Those articles should give you more than you ever wanted to know. I will pass on another tool to help you find those articles... it is the Online Computer Library Center (OCLC) website. You can search article titles and pull up a list of libraries and contact information for your local inter-library loan officer. Just take them the list and it makes the process easier. Search the ArticleFirst section of the site:

My librarian said there was no problem passing around the authorization and password, since it is a public site.

Is gold dust used in the vacuum metalization process to make latent prints visable? Where can I find reading material on the use of this process?
